Delete Your Account
This page explains how to request deletion of your City Exploreraccount and the data associated with it, what gets deleted, and what we’re required to keep. It applies to the City Explorer mobile app and the City Explorer website.
Delete your account in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from within City Explorer:
- Open the City Explorer app (or sign in at cityexplorer.live).
- Go to Account & Security (in the app: Profile → Account; on the web: Dashboard → Account).
- Scroll to the Delete account section and tap Delete account.
- Confirm your identity when prompted, then confirm deletion. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
Request deletion without the app
If you can’t access your account, email support@cityexplorer.live from the address on your account with the subject “Delete my account”. We may ask you to verify ownership before we proceed. We’ll action your request and confirm within 30 days, the timeframe set by UK GDPR Article 12.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove:
- Account & identity: your name, username, email, profile image, bio, location, languages, social links, and sign-in credentials.
- Content & activity: your streams, chat messages, follows, notifications, scheduled streams, academy enrolments, and any business profiles you own (including their hours, photos, and cameras).
- Subscriptions: active subscriptions are cancelled and your stored payment profile is removed.
What we keep, and for how long
For legal and accounting reasons we retain a limited set of records after deletion:
- Financial records(donation and subscription transactions held by our payment processor, Stripe) are kept as required by law — typically up to 7 years.
- Some stream recordings may persist with our video provider as independent assets; these are removed on request as part of the same deletion when feasible.
Outside these retained records, your personal data is removed from our live systems immediately and cleared from routine encrypted backups in the normal course of backup rotation.
